How much then does a web designer earn? That will depend. The salary earnings of a web designer are affected by a number of things. The position and abilities of a web designer are perhaps the most important of these. Currently, web designers can be categorized into three positions

Web Graphic designer: Graphic designers are involved in the digital/graphical layout of most websites. Such areas such as the coding of websites using front end scripts like html and CSS do not lie in the forte of a graphic designer. Salary figures for most graphic web designers is found to be somewhere between $20,000 and $50,000. However, really good designers normally get involved in other graphical representation (i.e. for advertising companies) and this can push their salaries to as much as $90,000.

Web designers (front end coding): These involve web designers who are capable of rendering websites using front end coding scripts such as html or CSS. These designers are able to take convert graphical representations into actual web pages which can then be viewed online. Web designers like these earn more than graphic designers and are normally found with salary values of $40,000 to $70,000. However, web designers who are also proficient in graphic designs will be able to push their earnings even more.

Web programmers: Web programmers are simply that, designers who are called on write complex programs which guide the running of many websites. Websites such as yahoo and Google employ back end coding which allows them perform effectively. Web programmers are the highest earning class of web designers and can make an annual salary of well over $100,000.

Other factors, some of which include the size of his company and experience level, also affect the amount a web designer can earn.
